Martien Seghers, born and raised in the picturesque town of Hulst in Zeeland, moved to bustling Amsterdam in 1999 after living in Antwerp for several years, to continue his artistic journey. What once began as a passion has now become his life's work. His journey in the art world began with drawing classes at MK24 and evolved with a season of abstract painting under the guidance of Femke Bourgonje, where he developed his own style and painting became a form of expression.

Martien's portfolio is diverse, with works ranging from enchanting paintings of Amsterdam canal houses to colourful depictions of landscapes and nature. Recently, he has focused more on spatial work, creating fascinating sculptures and refined woodwork reliefs, as well as pieces that play with 2.5D effects. He finds inspiration in the work of Jeroen Henneman, Picasso en Vincent van Gogh.

His art is characterised by his unique vision and interpretation of the world. Each piece tells a story, often part of larger series that are interconnected, such as his recent series on 'squares'. His works invite deeper exploration of his thoughts on human achievements in science and mathematics and interaction with his surroundings. To refine his technique, Martien is currently taking classes at the art academy in Haarlem.
